I just want to say thanks to Gainesville Sorba and all the good folks that put in the hard work to keep these trails maintained.

For anyone who appreciates their work stop off when you leave and drop a dollar or two in the donation box.

If the trail status says open, the gate should be open. We try hard to not close the gate without first changing the website. Likewise, if the trail status on the website is “closed” you can expect the gate to be locked. Please check the website before heading to Chicopee and do not ride these trails when the trail status on the website says “Closed”. We want to keep them in good shape. Thanks

We haven’t had any rain in a few days. Could the trails be open but no one has updated the trail status?

Hi John. The trail status is updated and is current. Check here to see if the trails are open. During the winter months the trails may be closed for several days not related to rain. The freeze thaw cycle can keep the trails muddy for several days even though it has not rained. Please check the “Trail Status” for current information.

The trail status posting above is current. It is only changed when the trail status changes (i.e. open to closed or closed to open). We appreciate all trail users checking the website for trail status prior to visiting Chicopee. We don’t want anyone driving there only to find it closed. Thanks for respecting the trail status. This year’s winter weather has not cooperated with riding bikes.

Thanks for trimming the dead tree back near the bridge on the Copperhead. Bucks in the box.

You are welcome. Thanks for the donation. Donations have been down this winter due to the wet weather. We need to catch up. Look for a work party date soon.

Tree down on the Flying Squirrel. Going CCW from the Copperhead intersection it’s about halfway to the White Tail intersection. Probably 8″ or so in diameter. Pretty well blocks the trail.

Thanks J Dub. We will look at it sometime in the next week.

2 trees down on the Copperhead. 1 is about .6 from the White tail intersection. Not blocking the trail but putting a squeeze in a curve. 2nd is about a mile from the FS intersection. Blocks the trail. Both are 8″ – 10″ diameter.

Is there another place that has the current status updated more frequently? just getting into riding and would love to check out Chicopee. Thanks.

Hi Taylor. When we make a status change (open or close Chicopee) we do it both on this website and on Facebook at Chicopee Woods MTB Trails. Don’t pay attention to the date on the status post on this website. It only changes when we update the status and doesn’t change again until we make a new status change.
