Aftermath: Camp and Ride @ Tanasi

Had a great time at Tanasi this weekend! Barry, Jesse, Johnny and Norma, Robi, and me. Barry and Jesse got a ride in on Friday while Robi and I drove up. Saturday, we took Bear Paw up, rode River Look? clockwise, up to Quartz clockwise, then over to Thunder Rock and down.

I rode badly. Just had a funk all day and was beginning to think the weekend would be spent huff-and -puffing. So I bailed for the second phase that afternoon.

The rest of the gang went out Old Copper Road and rode up Boyd Gap and did Brush Creek. Due to bush-hogging, lots of thorny vines were in the trail and flats ensued.  I stayed back and grilled some dogs!

We spent Saturday night eating Barry’s homemade Brunswick Stew and coming up with a mantra to help keep me in a positive mood for Sunday. Norma advised that this is how the Sorella Girls keep their mind focused. After much thought, Johnny came up with “I’m gonna ride my 29er like a slut so I can lose my beer gut!”

Sunday I felt much better. We went up the FS road to West Loop, over to Quartz counterclockwise. Then took the by-pass to River Look and did that counter clockwise, down Bear Paw backwards and then over to the Ocoee WW Center. We took Old Copper Road out to the drop-in (since I missed that the day before) but left the climb up Boyd Gap out. We had one more flat coming back.

Back at the camp we got a quick fire going and threw down some dogs and brats. Some of us jumped in the river to cool down. Nice! Packed and headed home.

Sorry, no pics. First I forgot the camera in my truck on Saturday. All you would have seen is pics of everyone waiting on me.

What!?! No mention of the spaghetti dinner, bacon, eggs, and pancakes each morning, nor how BIG a man has to be to wear an apron at a campsite. The ‘chef’ is insulted. [hehe]
