Simon - You must be talking about the main Elachee Nature Center gate. They usually open it between 7:00 and 7:30 AM every morning. You do have to go thru that gate to get to the Chicopee MTB trail parking lot which has a separate gate. The MTB trail parking lot gate should not have been closed.

I went to the trails early on Sunday morning (arrived at 7 am) and the gate was closed with a sign saying trails closed. The website said trails were open...Was I too early?...How can I avoid travelling all the way there only to find they are closed?
Thanks

Headed up to Gainesville shortly after noon and a sweetgum tree had fallen about 15 yards in from the entrance.

I hauled that sucker off to the left side and got it mostly clear for bikes, so it's clear sailin for now.

Paul - Per Gainesville City Park rules, dogs are allowed at Chicopee but must be on a leash.

No dogs are allowed at the Gainesville State College trail or campus.
