Chapter Ride at Turner Creek - Sunday, June 14th

Join the Gainesville Chapter for a group ride of Bull Mtn’s little brother, Turner Creek/No Tell and Black Branch trails.  This ride will be between 10-15 miles in length.  Longer ride options available.  This is a good SGB ride but geared bike riders will enjoy it too!  Come one, come all.  Bring food and refreshments to share if inclined. 

 

Meet at the Dawsonville Kroger parking lot at the intersection of Ga Hwy 400 and Ga Hwy 53 in Dawson county.  Look for us along the Hwy 53 side of the lot.  We will leave at 9 a.m. or meet at the DNR Game Check station on Winding Stairs Road (FS77) by 9:30-9:45.

Chicopee Work Party - Saturday, 6/27/09 9:00 AM

The Thursday Night Time Trials are just around the corner and we need to do some work on the Coyote Loop to get it in race shape. If you’re planning on racing in the TNTt this July this will be a good way to scout out the trail and some of the small improvements we are making.

Meet at the MTB parking lot at 9:00 AM and wear closed toe shoes, hiking/work boots are recommended. Bring work gloves and enough water and snacks for 4 hours of work. Tools and lunch will be provided. Bring your bike - we’ll ride afterwards.

Chapter Group Ride for April: Stonewall Falls and White Twister

“Keep Your Feet Dry” Ride at Stonewall Falls, Sunday, April 26, 2009

Join the Gainesville SORBA chapter for a group ride to Stonewall Falls and White Twister trails in Rabun County. These two trails total about 15 miles. Stonewall is about 11 miles and White Twister is about 4.5 miles. Along the way you will see Stonewall Falls and there are several creek crossings to test your water skills. If you haven’t ridden this system since the reroutes in 2007, come check it out. This is a medium difficulty ride due to the long climb in the first half of the ride. Pack a lunch.

Meet at the YMCA off of I-985 in Gainesville at 9:30a.m Sunday April 26 or at the trailhead at 10:30 a.m. Daniel should plan to be at the YMCA by 9 a.m.

Ring in the Spring MTB Festival at Chicopee - April 18th!

Ring in the Spring at Chicopee Woods MTB Park on Saturday, April 18th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM!  Gainesville SORBA will be hosting a mountain bike festival to kick off the spring with an official ribbon cutting celebrating the new trails and improvements at the MTB park.  There will be a Discovery Ride that explores the unique history and environment of the Chicopee Woods area along with games and chances to win swag.  There will also be a free swap meet area that you can drop off anything bike related you’d like to sell and a vendors midway.  Free lunch from Smokehouse BBQ will be provided to all that attend the festival.  Continue reading for Event Schedule.
